My
first project is a four-sided pyramid constructed out of card stock. Each
sloping face is comprised of an ascending fractalline pattern in which the downward
facing triangles are cut out to reveal shear inner faces that descend back to the
pyramid’s base.
The size of the project limited the complexity to only two iterations (Figure 1). Although, in theory, the pattern could continue on infinitely or until it becomes visually stable (figure 2).
The
whole project was completely designed to slip together using a series of tongue
and grooves. It was laid out using only pencil, compass and ruler.
What you see here is the substructure of the project, the hidden support and shear inner faces that will show after the sloping faces are installed.
